Scott Pilgrim vs. the World Review

I will be the first to admit that until about a month ago, Scott Pilgrim meant nothing to me.  Who was he?  What did he do?  Why is there a movie?  And why is there an awesome-looking game being made about him?  Well, not only did I find answers to my questions, but I got a hold of this nice throwback to old-style beat ‘em ups and now have a comprehensive review for you! Warning! Challengers Approaching!

Hey Guys, it’s Matt. I’d just like to formally announce that we’ve hired three freelancers; Kristen Willfong, Ron Odenthal III, and Dustin Urness. They all have joined the Games, Gold, and Glory family and will be putting up content every few weeks. The first of which will be Dustin’s Review of Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World – The Game, which will be put up roughly half an hour from this post. That’ll be soon followed by Kristen’s review of Alan Wake and The Signal which will go up midday tommorow. We welcome them to our site!

Whilst I’ve got your attention, I’d like to also mention a few things of note; Kurt’s PAX coverage will be going up in the next few days, and my review of Sam & Max: The Devil’s Playhouse was just put up Monday morning. If you didn’t see, commenting on that article gives you a chance to win the whole season, so comment away! Until next time, readers!

Sam and Max: The Devil’s Playhouse – Review

It’s been five whole months since the first episode launched, and it saddens me to see that it’s already over; we won’t be seeing much more of the Freelance Police for quite some time after this. Nonetheless, Telltale provided and delivered with five monthly episodes that each were fun romps in their own way. In an effort to avoid spoilers for the concluding chapter, I’ve decided to do a review of the season as a whole, recapping my thoughts on each episode and giving each episode a re-evaluation. So, if we’re ready, let’s foray into the Devil’s Playhouse!

Age of Empires Returning With Age of Empires Online!

Age of Empires, a franchise many thought gone due to the fact Ensemble Studios was closed early last year after finishing development of Halo Wars, which recieved somewhat positive reviews from the gaming public. However, Ensemble’s trademark series, Age of Empires, was in many people’s opinions never coming back. Fortunately, a number of ex-Ensemble developers formed Robot Entertainment and began creating more content for Halo Wars, and now have unveiled their newest project; Age of Empires Online. Featuring the trademark Age of Empires Real-Time Strategy gameplay, the game will apparently have a strong focus on online play based on the title. In addition, the game now seems to boast an ultra-cartoony art style to help usher in this franchise to the current generation. A private beta has been announced, and a trailer is available from the game’s official site. Concept Art is past the break.

Oddworld Coming Back?

Well, today I found out, and I should have known about it earlier, but it seems UK-based developer Just Add Water is working with Oddworld Inhabitants to bring us a a new and wonderful Oddworld game, and if you are like me, and was a teen during the launch of the mighty and great PlayStation, you know this game was one of the greatest games to own on the console, and certainly one of the most bizzare. Yet, I remain curious, and I am more than skeptical about it being a worthy sequel, as Oddworld has solely been developed in-house at Oddworld Inhabitants, and never worked on by a third party. But I will find out how I worthy a sequel it ends up being, when more details of the game are released. The Oddworld franchise has been dormant for almost 6 years. I have faith in this new developer, and Lorne Lanning has been working closely with them to ensure it still feels like a classic Oddworld Title. We will just have to wait and see about how all this will turn out.

Games, Gold, and Glory is not affiliated with Just Add Water or Oddworld Inhabitants in any way, shape, or form. For more information regarding the new Oddworld Series game, visit www.JADW.com

Yar! It be the Jolly rover review.

Yes, that is right… dogs and pirates. At first, it doesn’t look like they would mix, but for some odd reason they do, and this game just proves it. Sam and Max: Beyond The Alley of The Dolls Review!

Telltale Games follow a path in the majority of their series’. The first few episodes are good, the in-between episodes are great, and the final episodes border on perfection. This follows that formula. After the thrilling near-perfection of They Stole Max’s Brain, the penultimate chapter of The Devil’s Playhouse provides excitement, comedy, and one hell of a cliffhanger. Hit past the break to find out more. Read more
